“Their courthouse ceremony had so many friends and family members in attendance that they were spilling out into the hallway to watch the ceremony!  When Tabitha and Jason made their exit from the courthouse one of the security guards told us he had never seen so many guests at a courthouse ceremony - it was pretty special!”

The family was of Scottish descent so they made sure to include some beautiful traditions throughout the day. The attire for one was on point, where certain men wore traditional dress of Scotland consisting of kilts, sporrans, a sgian dubh (a small, single-edged knife) a kilt hose, and ghillies; while their wives came in beautiful tartan sashes. During the ceremony the Reverend performed a traditional handfasting with a tartan symbolizing their union and binding their hands together to symbolize their union. They also made sure to have a piper there to play beautiful music with his bagpipes during the ceremony as well as during the reception.

“I loved that they rented a home not only large enough to host their reception, but also have space for everyone enjoy their weekend at the beach together - it was clear that these high school sweethearts were so loved by all of their family and friends.  It was wonderful to see how how close everyone was - after all, family and the celebration of two people beginning a new family really is what these beautiful events are all about!”

"Don't sweat the small stuff but definitely splurge on the items that you have always dreamed about having. ALSO- the only souvenir you get is your wedding photography....spend the majority of your budget on your photographer. No one remembers if you ate crab cakes or filet...You can show off your pictures for the rest of your life."

“Morgan and Joe are planning their spring wedding in Orange Beach, and I couldn't be more excited.  They live out of town, so their Pensacola engagement session was the first time we met in person - and I just love them!  They are witty and funny and practical and lovely, and we had a blast.  We started downtown at the AKP studio, and then headed to Pensacola Beach to finish up under the Casino Beach pier, with the crystal waters sparkling in the background.  Congrats!”

“I’ve been photographing weddings for 10 years.  In the past decade, I’ve seen weddings that were enormous, with 700 guests and spanned multiple days.  I’ve also photographed intimate weddings, where the only attendees were the bride, groom, and their immediate families.  But never have I had the honor to photograph a true elopement, with only the bride and groom.  Caroline and Billy’s Seaside wedding was my first, and it was my absolute pleasure.”

Indoor VS. Outdoor Q&A

“In the Pensacola, Destin, Mobile area, the best months weather-wise are April, October, and November. It’s not as miserably hot as the summer months, afternoon thunderstorms have moved out of the area, and there’s not typically tons of rain.  If it had to pick one month, it would be October for sure - especially for a beach wedding!"

This building built in 1895, has been a staple in the downtown Mobile community in various ways since its conception. Being able to breathe new life into a space that was designed to be used by our community has been a thrill”

Grand Exits Q & A

What’s your favorite type of exit for photos?

“Confetti!  It’s great because your guests can grab big handfuls, and it’s lightweight so it takes a long time to float down through the air, insuring you have confetti floating around you in photos for the entire time you are walking out, even if you choose to stop for a kiss and a canoodle!”
