Finally - your wedding day is here!

Want to know what to expect on your actual wedding day? Here’s the skinny on how every piece of the day will work.

“All-day” coverage is as amazing as it sounds.

We believe in transparency throughout the entire process, and there are no tricks. Read on to see exactly what “all-day” coverage means, and also to learn more about what we bring with us on your big day.

FAQ
  • Are there any restrictions on what you mean by “all-day” coverage?

“All-day coverage” refers to consecutive hours of coverage of wedding-related events. Once we arrive, we stay with you through the day. It allows you to plan your day the way you want to experience it, instead of having to fit your wedding events into a set number of hours.

  • How early will you arrive?

At our final meeting, we will go through your schedule in detail, and together we will determine the best time for us to arrive. Generally we arrive anywhere from one to three hours before you slip into your gown, depending on a number of factors that we will discuss together. However, if you want us there sooner, we will be there! If you don’t want any photos until you’re dressed - that’s fine too! We stay until you leave your reception, so we are able to capture it all.

  • Who will be the second shooter?

We have a group of second shooters who work regularly, and usually exclusively, with our team. If you want to know the name of your second shooter, we can definitely let you know that once we have it scheduled, about a month before your wedding.

  • What will you wear to my wedding?

Every member of our team will arrive to your wedding dressed professionally, in dark clothing (usually black or dark gray). This ensures that we don’t distract from your guests or your decor, and allows us to move about as invisibly as possible.

  • Do you bring backup equipment in case something happens to your camera?

Yes! We always travel to weddings with a backup camera body and a variety of lenses in case something unexpected happens.

Insurance, licensing, restrictions, oh my!

Let’s be honest - we all love the actual creative part of photography more than the nuts and bolts of how it all works. Rest assured that our studio is fully licensed, insured, and comfortable working within whatever framework your venue and weddings requires. In over a decade photographing weddings, we’ve seen just about everything and we can handle just about any request.

FAQ
  • My venue requires proof of liability insurance for my vendors; do you have this, and do charge to provide this?

We are fully licensed and insured, and we have no problem at all sending a certificate to your venue if they request it. We do not charge for this, and it usually happens within the same day you request it.

  • My uncle loves to take photos and wants to bring his big camera. Is this okay?

Absolutely. A wedding day is for everyone, and that includes grandma who wants to take her own photos, mom who wants to film her husband's speech, and yes, even your Uncle Bob who just got a fancy new camera and wants to try it out. If someone is interfering with our ability to do our job, then we will very nicely ask them to step to the side.

  • Our church said the photographer can only stand in the back during the ceremony, and I’m worried I won’t have good photos of my ceremony. Is this common?

Yes. It is very common for churches to have some degree of restrictions on where your photographer can stand and how much we can move about during the ceremony. This is entirely to protect the sanctity of the ceremony and to prevent distractions, and we are comfortable working within whatever guidelines your church provides. The specific rules will certainly dictate which type of photos we are able to take during your ceremony, but we can create beautiful images within whatever framework we are given. When we arrive at a church, the first thing we do is locate the on-site coordinator to make sure we understand the expectations and plan accordingly. We will handle this - you don’t need to worry about it!

Once your wedding ends, our work is just beginning!

From back-up procedures to editing to gallery delivery, we have a tried-and-true system in place, and we are happy to share the details with you.

FAQ
  • What is your back-up process to make sure my photos don’t get lost or accidentally deleted?

We take the security of your photos incredibly seriously, starting even before we take the first wedding photo. All of our photographers use professional, digital cameras that automatically record every image to two separate memory cards, so even if one card corrupts, we have an identical backup. On the night of your wedding, before our head hits the pillow, your photos are backed up on three devices, in two separate physical locations (and one backup is locked in a waterproof fire safe as well).

  • How long does it take to receive my wedding photos?

You can expect to receive your photos 8-12 weeks after your wedding (clients who book one of our Signature Collections will see them in 4-6 weeks). We hand edit each of your images individually, and we process weddings in the order they took place. A few days after your wedding, we will send you an email and let you know exactly when you can expect your photos to be delivered. If you need a specific photo earlier (for example, if you get married in early December and want a family photo for a holiday card), let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate your request.

  • How will you send the photos to me once they’re ready?

You will receive a link to a password-protected, online gallery. You will be able to download your edited, high-resolution photos straight from this website, as many times as you would like. If you choose to share your images with friends and family, you can send them the link so they can download the photos they choose - no need for you to make copies of USB drives or disks! The gallery will stay active until your one-year anniversary, so we encourage clients to download all of their images before then and back them up for safekeeping to whatever service you use to store your personal data.

  • Do you charge extra to edit my photos?

Nope! We include basic editing in our collection prices. This includes basic color and lighting correction, if needed. We are also happy to perform more extensive retouching on any images you request, at no charge. Occasionally, clients request retouching that goes above and beyond standard editing (for example, changing your lipstick color in every image, or removing brown patches from the grass in every photo of your outdoor reception). In these cases, we will provide a custom quote for the edits you request before beginning the work.

  • Will you be posting any of my photos on your website, blog, or social media?

We are very active on our social media and our blog, and you can expect to see a few of your photos featured. We do offer blackout options for clients whose careers or circumstances dictate full privacy.
