If you have followed this blog for any time at all, you are probably well aware that I am having a love affair with Pensacola.  While I wasn’t born here, it has become my adopted hometown and I adore its quirks and histories, bricks and beaches, and overall vibe.  But sometimes, it’s extra-inspiring to work in new places, or to see old places with fresh eyes.

Kari and David’s New York City engagement session was the perfect example.

When I found out I was going to be in New York, I immediately started thinking of my clients who live in the area (and guys, there are a LOT of you!).  Honestly, I didn’t even think about Kari and David, because they live in Washington DC – but Kari happened to call me while this was on my brain, and one thing led to another, and then we were talking about engagement photos, and then BAM – she planned a dress-shopping trip to New York to coincide with my trip and it was done!  Even better – David proposed to Kari at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, and they asked if we could make their session happen in the same spot.

It was cold, even by northeastern standards, but Kari was a trooper and stayed true to her vision, arriving in the same incredible, midnight-blue strapless gown she was wearing the night they became engaged.  We spent a lovely hour in sub-30-degree weather walking around the Brooklyn Bridge Park, discovering gorgeous spots as we walked and talked, and the result is this beautiful Dumbo engagement session.
