Mallie and Daniel had their beautiful and intimate Sea Island, Georgia wedding planned to perfection. They couldn’t wait to celebrate with their closest family and friends in such a beautiful setting. And then… hurricane Dorian set its sights on the Georgia coast. Hurricane season is often a case of all bark and no bite but this one was a monster and plans had to change. We got the call from her amazing sister Laurel on Tuesday. We shot Laurel’s wedding this past Spring and she reached out to us in the hopes that we would be able to shoot her sister’s recently relocated wedding on Friday. We love these wonderful people and were thrilled to be available and able to be part of this extra special day.
When I first spoke to Mallie it was very clear that she wasn’t daunted by the change in plans. As long as she ended up married to Daniel, everything else was a bonus. This same attitude was present in everyone I encountered on their wedding day.
Mallie’s parents, Tara and Greg, prepared their gorgeous home for the reception and no one who laid eyes on it would believe it was put together in a mere three days! We are talking fairytale English cottage storybook perfection, you guys! Even better, all of the characters in this story are lovely, kind, and devoted to each other. And while Mallie’s family was busy on the house, Daniel’s family was setting things in motion for the ceremony at their beautiful spiritual home of Christ Church.
The love was obvious in every detail of their day. Daniel’s mom, Lucy, was so proud to place an heirloom bracelet on Mallie’s wrist that has been worn by the ladies in her family since 1850. Mallie wore a vintage Valentino dress from a family friend who used to own a gorgeous, local bridal boutique. Her Dad was able to bring in an amazing bagpiper from McGuire's Irish Pub Pipe Band to greet everyone and play them into the reception. On Sea Island, bagpipers close down the golf courses each night and you can hear them all over the island as you relax into the evening. Mallie and Daniel were so surprised and delighted to have their own special version of that tradition at their wedding.
On a day when everyone could have been stressed and worried about all of the changes, the only thing present was joy. Mallie said “We are both natives of Pensacola and I guess we were just meant to be married here after all!”
