What was your favorite detail from the wedding day?
“I really loved the travel theme to their wedding! Each table was marked with a beautiful, navy-blue globe centerpiece (surrounded by gorgeous flowers, of course!), and there was metallic calligraphy denoting a place that Mary and Dustin had visited together. The theme was carried through to so many aspects of the wedding - my favorites were their invitations, which looked like plane tickets!”
What made the wedding venue special?
“LandShark Landing is one of the most interesting venues on Pensacola Beach. It’s right on the sand, and opens directly onto the beach, where there are hammocks, totem poles, and yard games. It’s one of the best places for spending a lazy afternoon, and it gives such a playful and casual vibe to any events there. Mary and Dustin did a great job blending the kitschy wonderfulness of LandShark with the classy luxury of their reception - it all went together perfectly!
Where there any unique traditions that made the reception or ceremony memorable?
“In ten years, I thought I had seen everything - but Mary and Dustin’s wedding was the first time I’ve seen a wedding pinata! The cutest white, wedding cake pinata hung over the dance floor, and my favorite part of the reception was when Mary was blindfolded and smacked it until it rained Ring Pops and glow sticks!”
Was the exit exciting and unique?
“At the end of the evening, all of the wedding guests lined up with sparklers on the path leading to the open beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Just as Mary and Dustin reached the end of the line, an incredible fireworks show exploded over the water - it was a surprise they had managed to keep hidden from all of their guests! Photographing fireworks shows is challenging because I always want to the photo to show both the color if the fireworks in the sky and the couple - it usually involves me laying in the sand (completely!), with an assistant crouching on the other side of the couple. It’s seriously a pretty funny behind-the-scenes sight.”
