Something magical happens when you cross the state line and begin to pass through those Alabama pines. The air gets a little thicker and sweeter, time and inflection slow down a bit, and an aura of gentility from years past begins to settle. Alabama weddings, and those at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear in particular, are some of my most favorite to be a part of. I knew when I met Jessi that her wedding was going to be beautiful and oh so stylish, but I was unprepared for just how flawlessly the atmosphere of casual sophistication would come together. Every detail from the gorgeous organic floral design full of whites, creams, and the palest pinks accents to her two piece Kate McDonald lace and tulle gown that was both modern and classic was carefully thought through, and perfectly crafted. My favorite part of the day though, was the relaxed afternoon reception.
After their sweet ceremony under a shady, moss draped oak, their guests sipped mimosas and bloody Marys before dining on oysters, shrimp and grits (and the cutest chicken and waffle skillets I’ve ever seen). This outdoor brunch reception on Mobile Bay was exactly how a sunny Sunday in spring should be spent on the Alabama Coast.
Jessi and Richard, thank you so much for including me in your wedding day! It was such a joy spending the day with your family and friends in one of my very favorite places.
