Every wedding that we photograph has a set of stories that come with it.  Sometimes we hear many of those stories – how the couple met, why there are sunflowers in the bouquet, how they chose their specialty cocktail.  But for every story we hear, I know there are thousands more that explain the couple, their relationship, and their choices.  In the case of Addie and Mike, my favorite story (of many!) was the story of her wedding gown.

While on a trip to Tel Aviv (well before they were engaged), Addie was walking down a street and spotted an ivory dress hanging in the window of Sharon Brunsher.  It was haute couture, full of deconstructed taffeta and swathes of handmade lace.  She said to herself, “that’s the dress I am going to wear when I marry this man.”  Months later, Michael proposed and Addie did exactly what she said – she called the store and tracked down the dress that she knew was meant to be hers all along.  She had a seamstress stateside include panels of antique lace from her own grandmother’s (or great grandmother?) wedding gown, making a one-of-a-kind dress even more personal.

But here’s the deal about Addie’s wedding gown – the story of it, the personality, and the effortless style it carried was evident throughout the entire day.  Everything had its story – Addie’s cross necklace, Michael’s suit, the shoes, the band, EVERYTHING.  Each choice was mindful and interesting, and the result was a wedding day that felt anything but ordinary.
